A great opportunity to do Maths in Paris

The « Mathematical Summer in Paris » summer school will bring together around fifty young people who are passionate about mathematics and allow them to discover some of its many facets. Lectures by famous mathematicians will cover a wide range of topics. There will also be problem solving activities, mathematical games and cultural visits to discover Paris and its area both from the touristic and the scientific perspective. If you are between 16 and 20 years of age, or between two years before and two years after your high school degree, and if you love mathematics, then this school is for you!

Paris and its area

is not only famous for history and culture but also the world capital of mathematics, with more than 1000 mathematicians, including several Fields medalists.

Université Paris-Saclay Campus

The second edition of the Mathematical Summer in Paris will take place at the Université Paris-Saclay, located in the town of Orsay some 25 kilometers from Paris.

Practical information:

  • Applications will be open until April 1st 2020, at 11:59pm (Paris time).
  • Applicants will need to upload three documents (in pdf format only): one motivation letter explaining why they wish to attend the school and what they expect from it, and describing their favorite mathematical result; one CV; and one or two recommendation letters from educators. (The recommendation letters can be uploaded by the educators separately.)
  • There is a registration fee of 600 euros, covering accomodation and meals for the duration of the summer school.
  • Applicants can apply for financial support to cover registration fee and part of the travel costs.
  • The application results will be available by April 30th, 2020.
  • All courses and activities will be in English.
